Underworld @ The Hollywood Bowl

Was meaning to post this video for a while. Me, Deep & Chase hit up the bowl last month to catch Underworld in concert. What a night!

iPhone 1.1.1 Jailbroken

iPhoneIt was only a matter of time before the crazy programmers we all hold in high regards could crack v1.1.1 for the iPhone. Additionally they’ve also managed to hack the SpringBoard app to properly launch 3rd party apps, along with allowing root access to the fancy new iPod touch.

Great as that seems, I quote from Engadget “But it’s still not without some bad news: unfortunately, it sounds like most (if not all) of these new hacks rely solely on that single TIFF exploit in Mobile Safari, meaning that everyone’s back to square one the moment Apple beams v1.1.2 to the public at large.“.

Great. So much for a little fun on the over-priced toy we all love for a bit longer.

A few weeks back I decided t give the hack a run at my phone and man was it fun. So many great little apps to play with, native IM chat, persistent Wi-Fi and even a crazy pseudo-gps tool. That is all of course on top of the sweet customizations with SummerBoard (the spring board replacement allowing a scrolling background) and ways to change up the dock, icons, and sounds. I really didn’t care much for the 1.1.1 upgrade as a must have, but I was getting tired of the quirkyness I kept getting on the phone while it had an extra bunch of scripts running in the background. It’s no fun when you show someone your sexy phone with new toys and it needs a reboot or the screen starts to flickr uncontrollably.

I like stable. I’ll wait for another version down the road.
But I still patiently am waiting for the damn Cut & Paste.

Amazon Music Store == Pain In The AAC

AmazonWhat’s a website without a music store today? Nothing much at all.. especially when you’re a power player like Amazon. But where’s the fun in just allowing people to download good ‘ole non-protected tracks that they may be able to actually do something with.. like play for a friend or heaven forbid, transmit somewhere like another computer? That’s what I thought.. to the lawyers that would be just way too easy.

Last week Amazon announced their new music store, awesome right? Well of course. That is until you get someone to read the fine legal print to see what you are actually able to do with your digital gem.

Amazon’s contract says you “may copy, store, transfer and burn the Digital Content” for personal use. But then it goes further and specifies restrictions, saying you “agree that you will not redistribute, transmit, assign, sell, broadcast, rent, share, lend, modify, adapt, edit, sub-license or otherwise transfer or use the Digital Content.”

Amazing aeh? Makes you just want to rush to their site and spend all your money on some music you cant do anything but play on the computer you download them to in a set of headphones. That is of course just incase a friend might hear what you bought which could be construed as “broadcasting” or “sharing”.

Nothing says go back to illegal then some fine print on your hard earned dollar.

The Dog Ate My Webcam

These days Trixie is a little garbage disposal when it comes to wires and things in leaping reach, but I still love her. Don’t mind the absence of the freshly revived webcam now back offline until I can find another $20 el-cheapo Logitec laying around the pile-o-wires.

Webcam

Ahh the fun of a puppy. But I can’t blame her, she’s just getting even for us leaving her at home all day with nothing else to do.

Naked On a Glacier

Spencer TunickThis is a little old, but then again I’ve been a slacker recently when it comes to posting. I wanted to highlight Spencer Tunick’s latest project, in kind, of course.

The man is an original. His work is powerful and seriously meaningful. People sign up like you wouldn’t believe to be part of his dream, and what better way to travel the world doing something you love for a reason. I love his ideas, and his work shows that he does as well. Take a minute if you havn’t yet.

Quote of the day:

“so there’s this new thing here… where i always tell people… this sucks… you shouldnt do that… lets do it this way… and nobody ever listens to me. then after i build it their way… we end up changing it back to what i suggested in the first place. a guy here has started calling me Jack Bower… and says… if they always listened to Jack Bower… the show would be called 12, not 24.”

This was amazing. My favorite line “That’s ALL I want to talk about.”
