Friendly 404s

Friendly 404

Smashing Magazine has quickly become one of of my favorite geek blogs. They constantly scour for the best they can find for various aspects developers and web enthusiasts look for. They smash you with the information, if you will.

Friendly 404’s are a nice touch for any site. They collected a few here, lot of good ideas out there.

Open House

Like I mentioned, I really want to start showing off some things I’m doing a lot more. Rather then using the excuse of having nothing to post.. eh, typically I do. We took the challenge of stepping our game up with new Microsites we’re offering to The Art Institutes. Our pilot school was AI - San Diego and I think the result was quite nice.

Ai Open

I took some time to figure out what was needed - as to functionality and graphic elements to enhance the need for follow through in sign-ups. Sam knocked out a sexy new design that’s really clean and versatile for the new schools. The whole thing is running YUI and script.aculo.us, with Niceforms and custom validation. I re-wrote a lot of functionality since YUI and script.aculo.us don’t really play well together, but in the end it’s a quick loading, non-flash site that’s compatible all the way back to IE 5.01. Take that.

Oh, and yes I know it’s not transitional yet, but my CSS was out of the box! It’s mostly just standardizing br tags and encoding a few characters. I’m working on it.

New Week, Fresh Look

I was sick to death of the last look, it had been almost a year I’ve had that thing up and I’ve never really been happy with it.  I wish I had the time to keep working on design but that just never happens.   I found this funky template that I may still change up a bit down the road, but I like it.  Something new and different for a bit.  I’m going to start showing some love for my puppy here and setup my MoBlog from flickr to get some more stuff up in here.  Now that I have a smartphone again I can post from the road and all.

Back shortly.

Thats Right, I Bought It

iPhone

So after much debate (with myself and many of my other geekishly-loved friends) I decided that I owe myself a smart-phone. It took a while to get-over the fact I’m going to be paying just under 1K for this thing, after tax, registration, CRV, water, power & licensing fees or whatever else they slap you with to start up. Not to mention my Verizon early termination fee (don’t we all love that little joy), but damn, is it shiny!

..afterall, c’mon, of course I was going to buy this thing. You know 12 people called me the day it was released to see if I had one yet? Ya so obviously I know what you all think of me.

Playing with it in the store was fun, messing with Rene & Carl’s was even better, but once you get your personal data and .. well, life into this thing, it just makes sense. I hear there are rumors of big things still to come for it, let’s hope this pans out, but in any case, it’s a mini computer that I will use pretty much all aspects of, except for the stock ticker. I’m happy, and I’m eating ramen for lunch till Christmas. *chuckle*

I’ll email out my new number soon, but you can still hit me up on my 626 number for a bit as well.

oh yea, and tim, yes it blends.

Tosca: Published!

I got a nice treat in my email today, a note from the editor of Schmap.com telling me that one of my photos was published in their third edition of the San Francisco guide. Nice. Tosca

That makes two for two from Flickr. Man, I really have to start posting more photos again, I was doing so well for a while.
