Bansky Come Back

Iconic Banksy image painted over

London transport workers have painted over an iconic mural by “guerrilla artist” Banksy estimated to be worth more than £300,000.

The image depicted a scene from Quentin Tarantino’s Pulp Fiction, with Samuel L Jackson and John Travolta clutching bananas instead of guns.

It had become one of the most famous graffiti paintings by the artist.

Transport for London said a tough line had to be taken on graffiti because it created an atmosphere of social decay.

The Pulp Fiction mural was visible near Old Street Tube station.

In place of the famous image, another graffiti artist has spray-painted the words “come back” in large letters.

Banksy has become one of art’s hottest properties, with Angelina Jolie and Christina Aguilera among those who are reported to have splashed out on his work.

George Thomas, who owns a barber’s shop near the site, told the Independent the image was a “real draw” to the area.

“People used to come from all over to see it and photograph it,” he said.

“There is no way it could have been mistaken for graffiti. Whoever destroyed it is an idiot.”

By the way, if you havn’t seen his new book yet, you’re missing out.

Don’t Drink and Ride

Drunk man parks horse in German bank (AP)

Parking a horseBERLIN - An early-morning bank customer had a bit of a shock when he found a horse at the automatic teller machine.

The horse’s owner, identified only as Wolfgang H., had a bit too much to drink the night before and decided to sleep it off inside the bank’s heated foyer, police said Tuesday.

The 40-year-old machinist told Bild newspaper he had had “a few beers” with a friend in Wiesenburg, southwest of Berlin, and decided to hit the hay in the bank on his way home.

Confronted with the lack of a hitching-post, he brought the 6-year-old horse, named Sammy, in with him.

When a customer came across the horse and sleeping rider in the bank at 4:15 a.m. Monday, he called police, who then came and woke the owner up and sent him on his way.

No charges were filed, but there might be some cleanup needed: Apparently Sammy made his own after-hours deposit on the carpet.

So would this still be considered a DUI since he was operating some sort of a moving vehicle?

DJ AM @ Tentation

Friday Night we hit Tentation in Newport Beach to see DJ AM, damn what a set! The dude is seriously one of the best all-around skilled dj’s I know. His style is so all over the place the man will never sell out. Good way to start off the weekend. Check out the video clip I shot here and some shots from the night.

One thing that really pissed me off was at the end of the night when he finished his set, we were literally the only ones clapping and screamin for him. As a veteran DJ and simply a person who can tell when respect should be given (not any complicated science) it’s the only nice thing to do after this guy just crammed about 200 records into 2.5 hrs of music. I agree with deep that even though LA clubs can be annoying, overcrowded and full of morons, at least they respect the talent. I wouldn’t be surprised if AM never goes back to an OC club after that little demonstration.

*shakes fist*

Helping to Give Back a Little

Strange evening for me tonight. After all the meetings, phone calls, madness with this freelance project from hell and all, I decided to take the night off, browse a few photos and watch some TV. When I got home me and val were watching The Simpsons eating dinner and let American Idol roll on since the remote was out of the-couch-stretch. Tonight was a special event and really well done. They called it Idol Gives Back. Fox teamed up with sponsors, celebrities, stars, foundations and even took a few trips to poverty-stricken parts of the world to have a first-hand look at what they were about to present. I don’t quite know what part got to me, but it did.

As much as I feel this show isn’t only rigged and a bunch of politics for ratings and sponsorship increases, the message they gave tonight was much more then “Save the Children”, it was pretty damn sincere. For a long time I’ve just barley gotten by because of all the expensive habbits I tend to give myself. Photography, Music, Computers.. and the occasional splurge on clothes a few times a year. I’ve wanted to give back from time to time, but typically when it sounds like a good idea, before I hit submit, I check my online banking to count the overdrafts and then usually turn the monitor off and grab a beer. heh. I’m happy to say that those days are finally behind me.

Recently I’ve made some hard choices that have been for the best. All of which terrified me in their own rite, but finally paying off and I couldn’t be happier. I donated a few hundred dollars, I figure it was the least I could do for what fortune I’ve been blessed with. I also added that sweet little banner in the top corner, yah I know that was so 2005, but at least it can chill there till I re-design this site.
