Taking A Break

Seeing as we’re off for this week from work, I’m saving up to post when I get back to the office next Tuesday.

I’ll be at Disneyland with Val for New Years eve, everyone have a great weekend and New Year celebration!

Convo of the Week

I found this really funny.

Jim: is Jen coming with us today?
Dennis: as far as you know
Jim: that kind of cancels my question to you, doesn’t it?

Stephen Is King

Stephen Is King - Entertainment Weekly’s EW.com

The man himself in a stunningly called-for interview. His answers are fantastic. Expected, but still fantastic.

ColbertTime magazine may not have named him Person of the Year, but we here at Entertainment Weekly think Stephen Colbert is person enough to be one of our Entertainers of the Year. Why? Because Comedy Central’s The Colbert Report is the sharpest, knee-slapping-est news talk show on TV. And also because no one basks better in his own glory than Colbert. Read on and see for yourself.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Congrats on being named one of EW’s Entertainers of the Year.
STEPHEN COLBERT: I’m honored. Not surprised. I don’t want anyone to think that this comes as a shock to me.

What did you hope to accomplish in 2006?
I set out to change the world — not a lot, just by tiny degrees — and grab the wheel of this nation and turn the great ship of our national destiny.

There’s so much going on in the world right now —
For the first time ever, there’s a lot going on in the world. I’m so lucky that this year was the year something happened in the world. Years before, this show wouldn’t have worked. The world was just phoning it in.

Is it hard to make people laugh about the world, given its current state?

I would say laughter is the best medicine. But it’s more than that. It’s an entire regime of antibiotics and steroids. Laughter brings the swelling down on our national psyche, and then applies an antibiotic cream. You gotta keep it away from your eyes… Obviously, it’s a challenge to make light of the darkness but, um, it’s better than crying about it.

Gorillaz Live for NYE

Gorillaz

If you’re like me and have HDTV, you probably enjoy flipping over to MHD from time to time and see the videos, concerts, award shows and bio’s. The clarity and quality of the picture for being an MTV equivalent is outstanding and NYE will prove to be another one for the MOXI to try and record.

MHD to air “Gorillaz: Live in Harlem” concert on New Year’s Eve.. This is going to be awesome.

Almost Home for the Holidays

I guess you could say I was home, the almost part probably relates to the fact Christmas is only a week away. Geez, that probably means I’ll need to start shopping pretty soon. Hah, procrastination is fun ‘aint it? Well this weekend was nice. Saturday we celebrated Dad’s big 50th birthday over the weekend with a great dinner at Black Angus and mom took care of the home-made goodies and treats for afterward. Sunday brought a really nice church service and hearty breakfast to follow at Farmer Boys. Mmm, havn’t been there since the AI days of 7am classes and 5am wakeups. Have I mentioned recently I love my 4 minute commute to work?

My other love..

After we got back from breakfast, dad and I pulled the Malibu out and gave her a nice slick wash and shine. We all piled in the car and took her for a spin. Amazing to think we havn’t driven her in over a year, but time does fly if you don’t keep up. We were doing pretty well for a while but struggled to get her back alive after a stall down the street, thats where the Auto Club truck parked in the driveway comes into play. Dad and I think it’s a combination of old fuel filter, possible bad fuel pump, maybe an aging starter and year-old gas that’s lost some octane. Looks like another project for another day, but what a day today was to take a drive down a wonderful memory lane.

I’ll post some more shots we took in a few.

Oh, and to my RSS people, I made the move to FeedBurner. Since I was doing a little slick url re-direction I’m not quite sure if it will work. You may notice a couple changes in posts for the next couple days while I get a handle on it.
