Postman suspended for telling customers how to stop junk mail
This man deserves some sort of award IMHO, anyone who fight’s the man like this is awesome. I love the last part in this snip.
When postman Roger Annies told residents on his round how to avoid junk mail he considered it part of customer service.
But bosses at the Royal Mail - which makes millions of pounds a year from unwanted post - were less than impressed with his dedication.
They immediately suspended the 48-year-old father of two, who has worked as a postman for the more than 10 years, and he is now facing the sack.
Mr Annies decided to act after receiving dozens of complaints from householders who were fed up with the piles of junk mail dropping through their letter boxes everyday.
So, hoping he may have the answer to their prayers, he delivered his own leaflet to residents in Barry, South Wales, explaining how they could opt out of getting mailshots known as ‘door-to-door’ items by filling out a form.
I wonder if I tape a sign that says “Post No Bills” to the front of my mailbox if Best Buy and my CC companies will comply too? hhhmmmmmmmm…. *shrug*

It’d be worth a try!
One other thing that has emerged from this issue is that the Royal Mail is under no obligation to respect a ‘Post No Bills’ notice - one has to opt-out in writing. Annually. They don’t advertise that the opt-out is only temporary, either.
no kidding? Living in California, I can remember all my life just being bombarded with junk-mail. Fond memories as a child of my mom opening the mailbox hoping for good stuff only to first pull out the barrier of pennysaver ads and pizza coupons.
then for about a year, we got none of it. All of that just stopped one day and we didn’t realize it at first. Just when we started to appreciate it, it all came back. Nothing like being taunted.
Thanks for the comments
