Parish Is Burning
Lets see if this is the one that locks Bill Mahar into hell. “We’re gonna get letters about this” is right.
Fashion vs Style
Nothing like FCUK bringin the heat. What fun is a catfight without clothes being ripped off and accidentally running into oil that pours all over you. What a shame.
Welcome 30D
Man, Canon just doesn’t quit.
Pre-PMA 2006: Canon has today announced the EOS 30D, a mild evolution of the EOS 20D. Headline changes are a subtly redesigned body, spot metering, selectable continuous shooting speed, 100,000 shutter cycle life, a larger LCD monitor and the expected switch from simple image parameters to Canon’s preferred PictureStyles. From an imaging pipeline point of view this camera has the same sensor and image processor and the default PictureStyle matches the EOS 20D’s default image parameters (hence expect exactly the same imaging performance). Good news also comes in the form of a slightly lower price than the EOS 20D. We’re just waiting for the name confusion to begin, it’s not the six year old Canon EOS D30.
- Redesigned body (more EOS 5D like)
- Larger LCD monitor (2.5″)
- Soft-touch shutter release button
- AE/AF lock remains set if shutter is kept half-pressed between shots
- Faster startup and wake from sleep times
- Direct print button on rear of camera (woo!)
- Spot metering
- 100,000 shot shutter cycle
- ISO selectable in third stop steps
- ISO speed shown in viewfinder as you change it (still not once changed though)
- Selectable 5 or 3 fps continuous shooting
- PictureStyles instead of simple image parameters
- 9,999 images per folder (instead of 100 as per the EOS 20D)
- 15 menu languages (3 new)
Still an 8.2MP rig, which makes me feel better knowing it’s not totally a PRO 11+ upgrade, but there are some mighty fine features. And look at the size of the screen on the back!
On top of that, check the new sweeet ef-s lenses released
- EF 85mm F1.2L - EF-S 17-55 F2.8 IS. *drool*
UPDATE: Check out the sexy shot Rob Galbraith posted of the 30D with the new 1.2F lense. Hot damn.

Con Air II - The Return of the Midget
Sasha and James Zabelia @ Avaland
All I have to say about the club last night was Hell YEA! Sandeep and I rolled down to Hollywood for the Sasha & James Zabelia event at Avaland.
Lucky for us we got there early at 11:00p and only had to pay $40 for parking, awesome. Of course the lines were wrapped around Vine and just short of Sunset Blvd. And what better way to wait then in the rain for almost 2 hrs in downtown Hollywood.
It was actually pretty interesting waiting outside knowing that it still wouldn’t be all that packed when we got in (like always). We met some dudes from Virgina on a Cali trip saying (this is California huh?) Heh, I told them it may be like this but I guarentee tomorrow will be 80degrees and gorgeous.. and of course, Ca never fails to impress.
Anyhow back to the story, yea we finally got in around 1:00a and it was perfect timing, as soon as we got our first round to warm the hell up from being soaked in the rain, Sasha went on and his first 3 records were insaaaane. Sasha played straight till about 3am, total energy/progressive tracks with a touch of electro. Started to fall out right towards the end in my opinion, but then around 2:30a James Zabelia started up and I have to say, he ROCKED that place like no other I’ve ever seen. Sandeep and I both agree he is by far one of the best Electro DJ’s we’ve ever heard. Around 4:00a he started going back-to-back with Sasha and man, are they beyond amazing together. They playes so much electro, it was incredible.
The bass lines were unreal and we didn’t want to leave. So around 6:30a or 7am we closed the place out, beat the traffic of the still totally packed club out of the parking lot and proceeded to drive home with the sun blaring and a downpour of rain.
It was one hell of a night, and I’m so tempted to go back next Saturday to see Jonathan Peters again. Hes going solo, so I know it’s going to be an insane set.
Here’s to the weekend baby.
Creative Spam
Got yet another lovely use of the web at-work in my life this morning, as if i didn’t have enough Ambien, Xanex & Viagra yet. But one thing that caught my eye was that these were all spelled correctly and my spam filter didnt catch it. Intrigued by why (seeing as I am intrigued easily9 times out of 10), I investigated.
Clicking the word to select it seemed to select some other letters accross the screen, puzzled by what kind of html tricks they were pulling i found they pulled some sneaky CSS work:
Some Code Like This
<div>
A <span style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0; float:right"> u </span>
m <span style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0; float:right"> x </span>
b <span style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0; float:right"> o </span>
i <span style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0; float:right"> m </span>
e <span style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0; float:right"> m </span>
n <span style="MARGIN-RIGHT: 0; float:right"> e </span>
</div>
Would produce something like this:
A u m x b o i m e m n e
… A for effort, you sneaky bastards.
NBC fingers YouTube
So with the current state of DRM these days, it seems like you can’t get a damn break, no matter how viral, popular or virtually ad-free you may be. YouTube is a great example of an awesome web2.0 concept done well. Granted they could use a little better stylesheet on the site, still they rock. Like when they served the Chronicals of Narnia vid that went crazy on the web about a month ago. I probably watched it 4 times on the site before I threw it on my PSP, but of course all good things lead to a lawsuit. This is just moronic NBC, c’mon, live with the fact a few people know how to “record” what you broadcast over the air and happen to be geeks. Holy shit. If you’re going to be stingy and picky about your content flash your logo in the middle of the screen or something. As annoying as that may be, its much better then you picking a fight with well loved websites with the potential to bring them down. I can live with a logo, but spending unnecessary money, sweat and effort to take down YouTube is just a waste of everyones time. Yea, I said it.
