20D Firmware v2.0.3

Canon EOS 20D/20Da firmware update v2.0.3: Digital Photography Review

For all my peeps with the 20D, there’s a new firmware release that fixes some write time to the CF card. Looks like i’ll be crossing my fingers on sunday when I run this and hope I don’t end up with a $1500 paperweight.

What has been changed?

  • Fixes a problem in color temperature information transmission that occurred when using Speedlite 430EX.
  • Improves reliability in communication when using CF cards.

Bub-bye SBC: AT&T brand to prevail

Well, it’s not more cowbell, just the return of Ma Bell. Looks like they’re ditching the annoying (humms logo tune) ding ding diiiing and returning to the roots.

SBC LogoAs expected, SBC Communications today announced that it will adopt the AT&T brand once it completes the merger with its former parent company. The company also said it will launch a new logo for the company, and a new stock ticker, once the merger reaches its expected conclusion in late 2005, and will launch a major multimedia advertising campaign to promote its new status as well.

“The AT&T name has a proud and storied heritage, as well as unparalleled recognition around the globe among both businesses and consumers,” said Edward E. Whitacre Jr., chairman and CEO of SBC Communications Inc., in a prepared statement today. “No name is better-suited than AT&T to represent the new company’s passion to deliver innovation, reliability, quality, integrity and unsurpassed customer care. This is the brand that will lead the industry in delivering the next generation of communications and entertainment services.”

Never really was a big fan of that logo anyhow.

New Flickr Bar

Flickr Bar style
So this is nothing big, but I logged in tonight to upload a new shot I took last weekend and noticed a hot lil bar in place of the old basic text links. Sweet! So is this a taste of the new look of flickr? I mean hell the thing is still in beta.. *chuckle*

Royalties From Flickr?

Probably not, reason why…? The official response:

There’s More to Life Than Money

Interesting debate going on between Anil Dash and the Strikeback from Caterina Fake. Anil mentions how he believes a User Contribution Base site should kick back their collective fortune to the users that get them there. Caterina has a nice response.

It’s an interesting debate, Scoble points out:

It’ll be interesting to see if the best way to build a really great Internet business and a great Web-based community just might be to pay people to write, take photos, record podcasts, and give their knowledge into the system. Hmmm, what are the two of the hottest companies? eBay and Google. They pay their users, particularly ones who are popular (I have friends making $10,000+ a month off of Google ads, for instance).

Very…. interesting-ness..

Rome Bans Goldfish Bowls

Rome bans goldfish bowls - Yahoo! News

Rome Bans Goldfish BowlsROME (Reuters) - The city of Rome has banned goldfish bowls, which animal rights activists say are cruel, and has made regular dog-walks mandatory in the Italian capital, the town’s council said Tuesday.

The classic spherical fish bowls are banned under a new by-law which also stops fish or other animals being given away as fairground prizes. It comes after a national law was passed to allow jail sentences for people who abandon cats or dogs.

“It’s good to do whatever we can for our animals who in exchange for a little love fill our existence with their attention,” said Monica Cirinna, the councilor behind the by-law.

The northern city of Turin passed a law in April to fine pet owners up to 500 euros if they do not walk their dogs at least three times a day.

Three times a day? Holy crap, yo. I know Rome is a laid back city but hell, people have to work right? hah. gotta love the random news feed of the day aye?
