Freakin Sweet Blog

Family Guy Blog!

This is just freakin sweet, and I dont know why I havn’t found it earlier, the official Family Guy Freakin Blog. Nice. Lot of heads on this site too. Right now they’re on a director’s flashback kick, pretty nice to read on some of these tho.. Dan Povenmier is all over it right now.

125mi Wi-Fi Shootout

Wi-Fi ShootoutThis is pretty sweet in the height of geek-dom, this team set out to see how far they could shootout a 802.11b signal in the desert. Their site and video show how they wired it to a Linksys AP and defeted the mountain ranges and the curvature of the earth. As a HAM Radio operator myself I find it sweet how they wired it. Pretty intense, yo.

This was accomplished with a 12 foot dish on a mountain on the outside of Las Vegas and their remote station with a 10 foot dish on a mountain to the west of St. George Utah.

The team had spent much of their summer break from University to build and test their equipment. With surplus satellite dishes scrounged from their home area, building a custom trailer for the remote station, assembling all the scaffolding for the base station and testing. The teams talents in welding, mathematics, electronics, ham radio, programming, and Linux were all necessary to break their previous record.

Feed on Google News

Google Blog: Breaking story: Google News Feeds
Isn’t that a tasty thought? :)

For some time now, the Google News team has noticed a steady uptick in feature requests for feed support. We’re happy to announce that starting today you’ll be able to get Google News results in two feed flavors, Atom and RSS. You can use either format in your favorite feed reader. And since feed reading can be addictive, don’t forget to feed yourself after feeding your reader.

Links to Feeds:

But what’s hotter is custom news RSS feeds! Like so: http://news.google.com/news?q=keywords&output=rss

Now truly all your news are belong to you.

They spinnnnin!

iPod SpinnerSo I’m playing catch-up on my blog now, this last week just got way too insane for me at work. We just launched a small but simple site that I cranked out for a condo community at lidocommunities.com. Working on trying to get over there to take some photos of the properties to spice up the site a bit, looking forward to that if it drops soon.

But now since I have a chance to breathe again I can post a few I’ve been wanting to for a while. The image above is from a list of some Gangsta Gadgets deep shot me the other day, heh the iPod spinner.. iSpin? Speakin on deep, he got a radio spot Sunday night with a local LA station and got to talk about some of the roots of his music and threw down a set, go check it out if you’re a fan of Bhangra Music.

In other news, I’m heading to vegas this weekend to make some rent money with the guys. Nothing like a $10/day rental with the $5 insurance, 12hr poker tournament, guestlist admission to the clubs at Rio & a $70 room for 4 dudes to crash for a few hours to do it again! heh.

Freakin Sweet Family Guy Movie!

Freaking SweetSo besides the fact one of the drives in my file server failed last week and simultaneously decided to make Windows Server 2003 run like it had been through WWIII, forcing me to battle with a re-install and run 3 hours of security updates last night….Talk about a Freakin Sweet evening at home watching the new unreleased Family Guy Movie! Brian hooked up the flick, mark cooked dinner and we spent the eve with steak dinner and a 2 hour movie of our favorite animated series. Ahh yea, the good life.

By the way, if anyone wants a taste of this you better come over and visit damnit-janet!

Field Trip to Adobe

PhotoshopNews: Adobe Field Trip-visiting the Photoshop Engineers

Trip to Adobe

At the Northwest corner of Park Avenue and South Almaden Boulevard stand three rather tall buildings-by San Jose, California standards. They are the Adobe Towers, the buildings that PostScript and Photoshop built. On 10 West (10th floor, West Tower), the majority of the Photoshop engineers work and play.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve gone down to San Jose to visit 345 Park Avenue, 10th floor. I was there just a few weeks after the first tower, the West Tower, was opened. They had a few, uh, “issues”. I remember something about the elevators and security badges not working as expected. Not unheard of in a new high-tech office building.

Saw this link over on Photoshop News a few back, reminds me of when me and the homies were there in person last year on our way back from Flash Forward. Decided to take a nice lil road trip and embark on the Tour-de-Geek on the way home. Macromedia, Google & Adobe. Ahh the good times, reminds me I need to post that trip on flickr.
