PHILADELPHIA (Reuters) - There she goes.

After 85 years, the annual Miss America beauty pageant, which was dropped by ABC earlier this year, is leaving the beach town of Atlantic City, New Jersey.

The location of next year’s pageant has not yet been determined, but the pageant’s corporate headquarters will remain in Atlantic City, organizers said on Thursday.

The decision to leave reflects financial considerations facing Miss America due to its change of media partners, said Jeff Vasser, executive director of the Atlantic City Convention Center and Visitors Authority.

Earlier this year, the Miss America Organization signed a new television contract with CMT, a country music channel, after ABC dropped the pageant because of low ratings.

Art McMaster, the chief executive of the organization representing America’s oldest beauty contest said, “The decision to leave the pageant’s longtime home in Atlantic City was made after extremely careful deliberation and with the highest level of respect for the countless friends, volunteers, and fans of the pageant.”

The pageant’s format is set to change when it moves to the country music cable channel next year. In 2006 the pageant will include a reality-TV style component.

*blink* Did I read that right… reality-TV style component?? Ahh the politics of Television, anything to get a damned rating. I have to say even though these are so insanley fake and annoying to watch, ain’t nothing wrong with watching all these gorgeous women walk around, wave & smile at you like they’re sponsored by Crest .. now that’s quality TV is ya ask me.

Speacking of which, funny story I found today, a Flickr user claims that this man exposed himself to her on the NYC subway, so she took a cameraphone photo and posted it to Flickr, then printed it out and brought it to the cops.

Funny how that site is growing like wildfire these days, glad to be part of the beta launch myself, they really have their stuff together with the way they setup the system. Probably my favorite part of Flickr is the ability to interact with opensource applications, like my photo site i’m currently working on. Should be done in a day or so so stay tuned, yo.

Think Secret - Photoshop CS3 details emerge

Just months after the release of Adobe Photoshop CS2, Think Secret has obtained several notes regarding Photoshop CS3, as well as word that Adobe may be developing two other yet unannounced products: Adobe Acrobat 3D and Adobe Full Frame.

Adobe is exploring offering two versions of Photoshop CS3, a Standard version and a Premium version. According to one plan under consideration, some principle new features, such as Camera Raw 4, would be available to both versions, while other functionality, such as Vanishing Point 2, would be available with more advanced options in the Premium version. Still other features, such as rotoscoping that was introduced in CS2, would be moved exclusively to the Premium package.

Sources have also disclosed that Photoshop CS3 will include significant improvements to non-destructive image editing and that the software is prepped to receive a rather significant interface overhaul that will better organize tools and options. Tablet users will be pleased to learn that Photoshop CS3 will adopt a number of features Corel currently packs into Painter, including an easily rotatable canvas designed to mimic drawing on paper. Vanishing Point 2 will also improve Photoshop’s perspective-based editing, introduced in CS2, by allowing objects to wrap around multiple surfaces, measure distances, and export to CAD applications. Photoshop CS3 will also deliver significant performance improvements to Camera Raw and include new measurement and scale tools.

Really amazing how they never give you time to catch-up with the software you’re already behind on. I still have books I’m reading on CS2 so they better now outdate me. Although the updates to the RAW editor do sound mighty tasty tho

Farmer Writes Personal Ad in Cornfield - Yahoo! News

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. - It sounds a little corny. A farmer looking for love has planted a personals ad, using corn stalks in a cow pasture. It reads: “S.W.F Got-2 (love symbol) Farm’n.” Underneath is a 1,000-foot-long arrow pointing single white females to his house.

“It only took me about an hour — I did it with a corn planter in May,” Pieter DeHond said Wednesday as he removed weeds from the 18-acre field. “I was just horsing around.”

In place of a newspaper ad, DeHond said he decided on an impulse to use up the extra corn seed left after spring planting at his 200-acre Pleasure Acres farm in western New York.

“I wouldn’t place a personal ad in the paper. To me it seems desperate,” he added, laughing. “This is more of a fun thing. I put this out in a field where nobody could see it unless you flew over it.”

Dude, this guy has the right idea. Might as well use what you got to get what you want right? Plus I’m sure this was a hell of a lot cheaper then taking an ad out in the personals.. he’s no different then someone on match.com I suppose. Except this guy just got all the free publicity he wants and will probably be gettin’ some earlier then he expected! *chuckle*

Woman Gets Cable Bill With Derogatory Name - Yahoo! News

CHICAGO - LaChania Govan said she got bounced around by her cable company when she called to complain. She made dozens of calls and was even transferred to a person who spoke Spanish — a language she doesn’t understand.

But when she got her August bill from Comcast she had no trouble understanding she’d made somebody mad. It was addressed to “Bitch Dog.”

“I was like you got to be freaking kidding me,” said Govan, 25. “I was so mad I couldn’t even cuss.”

Haha, couldn’t help but chuckle on that one.

So these days you arent much unless you’re building your own Map application or mashup with one of the Big Boy’s API’s.. Google maps never fails to impress, now A9 MAPS is up in the mix, MSN Maps is a contender and a good mashup of the both at FlashEarth.

One of my new fav’s is the googlemap integration for gas prices.. now if they just find a few more in Long Beach, I don’t have to drive an extra 5 miles to save $0.04/gal.
